Route 3 Flex Service

What is Flex service?

Flex is a new style of curb-to-curb transit service that matches resources with ridership. Riders may call and schedule to be picked up at any address in the Flex service area.

When is Flex service available?

During off-peak periods, from 9 a.m. − 3 p.m. and 6 − 8 p.m., the fixed route is shortened and locations beyond Lawrence Memorial Hospital will be eligible for Flex service (see map of service area above).

Where do I catch the bus?

Riders may board or exit at any safe address within the service area. Riders must be ready at the appointed time, since drivers will not wait more than two minutes.

Where will the bus take me?

Riders can travel anywhere in the service area or be dropped off at 9th and Massachusetts to transfer to other routes.

Who can use Flex service?

Anyone traveling within the service area may schedule a ride. Flex service is a shared ride service. Vehicles are wheelchair accessible.

How much does it cost?

The same fares apply to Flex service as to all other routes (see page 4).

How do I schedule or cancel a ride?

Riders must call one hour ahead to schedule a trip, or up to five days in advance. Trips are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If the desired time is booked, passengers may be offered an alternate time.

For reservations or cancellations, call (785) 312-7054, ext. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Cancellations must be made at least one hour before the trip.

What is "standing order" service?

For riders who need to make the same trip on a regular basis, a standing order may be arranged if space is available.
