Ridership Milestones in 2003
More than a 1000 people take the “T” – On Thursday, July 17 the system provided 1,183 rides. Leveraging the popularity of the annual sidewalk sale and two benefits of the T, no traffic or parking worries, the free ride promotion was a success in bringing more riders to the system. In addition, the future rides created by citizens riding the T for the first time to the annual sidewalk sale will provide value to the system.
Fixed Route, October 2003 – The “T” transported over 25,000 riders on the fixed route system for a 15.2% increase from October 2002. Together, the “T” and “T Lift” had nearly 30,000 riders.

Combined Ridership Exceeds 25,000 for Eight Months – Riders on the system exceeded 25,000 during eight consecutive months of 2003. The continuing increase in monthly ridership, including riders from both systems (fixed route and paratransit) is a new milestone in the system’s operation. The Lawrence Transit System is on track to reach an annual ridership of over 300,000 for both services. The increase in ridership is attributed to the fixed route system while ridership on the T Lift, the paratransit service, has remained steady. Ridership for the eight months:
