The Coming Year
Route Review – Using the information gathered from our summer and fall surveys, the Route Review committee is doing a careful review of all routes, requested new service, hours of operation and timing issues. The goal of the committee is to develop a menu of route changes that can be shared with the full PTAC Committee and taken to public hearing.
Paratransit Vehicles – We are replacing five paratransit vehicles with high mileage. The vehicles are being built by Diamond Coach in Oswego, Kansas. Funds from the state Comprehensive Transportation Program will be utilized to pay for the vehicles. This funding does not require a local match.
Passenger Waiting Shelters – 14 additional passenger waiting shelters will be installed at various locations throughout the city.
Marketing Coordinator – a new staff member will join us on January 5, 2004 to take on the role of marketing the transit system. Ongoing implementation of the aggressive Communications Plan (copy provided) will be a major part of her role. In addition, the Coordinator will investigate, develop and implement a travel training program for the transit system.
Graphic Design – Work will begin with Stillhouse Production and Lottridge Advertising to develop transit’s t-shirt designs, radio scripts, print ads and tv scripts for the second half of 2004 and 2005. The materials will remain consistent with the established name, logo and color scheme and will promote an image of safety, convenience and customer service.
